Rollers

A couple weeks ago, I helped the first grade with their science lessons. They have been learning about balance and motion, in particular rollers. I used their FOSS Kit to set up a lesson and experiement with rollers. We learned the terms wheel, axle, ramp, and incline, and tested out wheels of different sizes down the ramp. Students explored how to get the wheels and axle to roll, turn (and why it does this), how to get it to stop.

They had a ton of fun exploring today. I loved how the FOSS Kits have everything so well planned, how easy set up is, and how well the lessons are presented.
