Bridges

Mrs. Roberts class started a Mystery Science on the invisible forces in bridges today! We watched a Mystery Science video together as a class and had a good discussion about what makes bridges strong and weak. Students learned specifically about arch, pillar, and suspension bridges. We then watched a video of a famous failed bridge design- the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. Next, students continued with the Mystery Science activity and created their own paper bridges. We used Legos to measure the strength of our bridges.

We will continue learning about bridge design over the next few weeks and even create a bridge large enough for humans! Stay tuned!
