Post Office Design Continued

Third grade students took a long break after drawing their simple machines that would help the post office run. It was a bit of a challenge to get back into the swing of things and remember where they left off. However, once they reviewed their plans in their groups they got busy going to work. They worked at super speed!

After their designs were complete, they tested it out and walked through the process. I loved how the groups in the video below collaborated to make their machines all work in sync. There was another group that intended to finish off the chain but due to space constratints, they had to construct their machine in a different location.

My favorite part of this whole project was at the end, I had them record self reflections on the iPads. I had a series of questions I asked them to answer to help guide their reflection. I loved how this part turned out and definitely will use it again with other classes.
