Pop Rockets

K-2 Morning STEAM students made pop rockets! I had a ton of clear plastic water containers donated that were thicker than the kind I'm used to. I knew I had to use them for something special. I also remembered I had extra PVC tubing around. It just so happened that the PVC tubes I had fit EXACTLY into the opening of the bottles. This made for a perfect rocket launcher! We added in some duct tape for extra security and to make it more air tight. Students then learned about the parts of a rocket including the fins and cone and made rockets out of cardstock to fit on their launcher. While some students needed assistance getting the rocket to fit well over the PVC tube, most were pretty independent in their constructing. One thing is for sure, they all had a ton of fun blasting them around the room!
