Calder Inspired Balancing Mobiles

First grade continued their balance unit in STEAM Lab this week by making Alexander Calder inspired balancing mobiles. This lesson was from the class FOSS Kit, but I changed it a bit (creating colorful abstract shapes to hang instead of notecards) to replicate Calder's style of art.

We talked and experimented with the completed mobiles to see how the balance would shift if we moved the parts along the straws.
