Middle School Round 1

We are piloting a new program for our middle school. I was teaching a couple middle school study halls and we have decided to pilot some STEAM proejcts with this group. Admitidly, I was a bit nervous at first because it's been so long since I've taught middle school students. I decided for the pilot program I really wanted to have highly engaging and team activities for the students. Our first project is a good old fashioned egg drop! Students are so excited and I'm already impressed and excited to work with them! I introduced the project with students using this website with a few modifications. In our first session, we went over the engineering desing process and students chose their groups (and did an incredible job of making sure everyone was included and felt involved). Once in their groups, they did some background research and discussions just to get their ideas flowing. Below are photos of students writing out ideas, using the whiteboard to draw and label, and look up ideas on Youtube. I can't wait to see where this project takes us. Updates to come.
