Pinball Machines

Morning K-2 STEAM just began making pinball machines out of recycled materials. This is a great open-ended project that will allow for lots of creativity, problem solving, and working through the design process. I had the project ready by cutting boxes for them. Students began by adding flappers made out of popsicle sticks and used a rubber bouncy ball to test out their design. They then were challenged to add in at least 7 obstacles. Some of the recycled materials students had access to include paper tube rolls, cups, plastic containers and lids, cardboard, and egg cartons.
