LED Insects

I was inspired by STEAM Powered Family Blog to make these LED Circuit Bugs with K-2 morning STEAM class. I made some modifications to make it easier for the fine motor skill ability of the younger students. We connected a battery to an LED and discussed how there is a positive and negative side of a battery and how to identify which prong of the LED is positive/negative. We then pinched the LED and battery into a clothespin. Students then decorated their bugs using wires, pipe cleaners, and markers to decorate the clothespins. I think they turned out super cute and the kids were really excited about them.
