Bioluminescent Jellyfish

Kindergarten students have been learning about sea life so we did one of my favorite activities in STEAM! We made bioluminescent jellyfish! We watched videos on bioluminescence, learning that some living creatures have the ability to create a glow with chemical reactions in their bodies. This may help them scare off predators or attract prey or mates.

We created our jellyfish by first decoupaging colored tissue paper onto clear plastic containers. Next, we added streamers, google eyes just for fun, and a glow stick inside the container. I've also done it where we added in tap lights instead of a glow stick. Tap lights lasts longer, but don't give out quite the same "glow" effect.
